Recyclable Items

The following items may be comingled recycled, meaning they may be put in the same recycling bin together:

  • Glass - rinsed out, unbroken jars and bottles with the lids removed. Lids are not recyclable.
  • Aluminum and Steel Cans - clean aluminum foil, pie pans, empty aerosol cans, and rinsed out cans (labels still attached are okay).
  • #1 and #2 Plastic Containers - Milk jugs, soda bottles, and detergent bottles, rinsed out with caps removed. Cooking oil and Motor oil bottles unrinsed with lids closed tight.

The following items may be recycled; however, they must be kept separate.

  • Newspapers, magazines, mixed office paper, brown paper bags, and paper board boxes such as cereal boxes may be put in the same paper bin together. - Do not place in plastic bags.
  • Corrugated Cardboard must be clean and flattened before putting into recycling receptacles at all BCWS convenience centers and drop-off sites. - Click here for locations.
  • Textile recycling – clothing and other textiles are accepted for recycling at Oakley Road convenience center, clean in plastic bags.
  • Lead acid batteries and nickel cadmium batteries are accepted at all nine convenience centers for recycling.

Used Oil Collection Sites

Used oil is collected for recycling at all nine convenience centers as well as the following drop-off sites.

  • Advance Auto Parts - Goose Creek and Moncks Corner.
  • Auto Zone - Goose Creek
  • Goose Creek Public Works - Oil filters are accepted as well.

Mixed oil & gas is collected for recycling at three of our convenience centers: Gravel Hill, Oakley Road, and Ranger Drive Convenience Center.

Antifreeze Collection

Antifreeze is collected for recycling at two of our convenience centers: Oakley Road and Gravel Hill Convenience Center.
